From Redeemer’s start, showing mercy and compassion to those near us is an indispensable part of living out our desire to be a church for the city of Athens. These ministries provide opportunities for us to form relationships with people from our community. We do this in and through the love of Jesus Christ in a variety of ways.
Monthly Opportunity to Serve
Redeemer serves monthly at Our Daily Bread. Our hope is that the whole church family participates in serving at ODB at least once throughout the year. Redeemer prepares and serves both breakfast and lunch each month and this is a wonderful way to engage in serving and loving the needy in Athens.

Since 1989, Our Daily Bread has operated as a community kitchen to offer nourishing meals and other vital resources to Athenians facing homelessness and extreme poverty.
Local Ministries Partnering with Redeemer
Downtown Ministries
The Downtown Ministries story began as an initiative out of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, with a visionary group of believers who saw the stark dichotomies of the Athens community and felt God’s call to act.
What started with a volunteer-led youth football team in 2003 has grown into a multi-faceted ministry that includes a fully accredited K-5 Christian School, a robust sports program with 5 seasonal offerings, a community kitchen and volunteer programs that engage more than 400 volunteers annually.

Chosen for Life Adoption Ministry
CFLM is a group of Christian volunteers from various local churches in the Athens, GA area. We are a non-profit, 501c3 organization. Our members have a heart for both adoption and orphan care. For us, adoption is one way to obey God’s command to care for orphans. Adoption is an opportunity and an amazing gift that encompasses our earthly families and extends to the love God poured out on us as His adopted sons and daughters.
It is our mission to educate and engage the people of our local churches and communities on ways they can live in obedience to God’s command to visit orphans in their affliction in our neighborhood and around the world.
We are looking for more volunteers to join care teams that support local foster families. While not everyone is called to foster or adopt, there's a way for everyone to play a part! China Outreach Ministries
China Outreach Ministries is an organization with staff who are committed to befriending and showing love to the Chinese who are studying and working in the United States. China Outreach Ministries (COM) is a nation wide 501(C)3 non-profit organization with nearly 100 staff that has been serving overseas Chinese for over 50 years and for 10 years at UGA! We’re the only local organization that focuses specifically on the Chinese and whose staff are members of the UGA approved Campus Ministers Association.
